Prof. Savvas Papacostas (male) is a Senior Consultant Neurologist and Director of Clinic B (epilepsy, behavioral neurology and clinical neurophysiology) and Professor of Neuroscience at the Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine of the CING. His interests focus on clinical neurophysiology with extensive experience and research as well as publications in the field of evoking and analysing signals that result from the stimulation of sensory organs. His lab has developed new diagnostic methods for the evaluation of the functionality of the central nervous system such as mapping of the cortical representation of the vestibular nerve. Several articles and review papers have been published on the subject. He currently he teaches at the Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine. He supervises PhD and Masters’ candidates in neurophysiology, behavioural neurology (dementia) and in animal models of Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to his research activities, Prof Papacostas sees patients with intractable forms of epilepsy and in addition, due to his previous psychiatric training, he is also in charge of the behavioural neurology clinic of the CING where he sees patients with dementing and other neuro-degenerative disorders. He participates in local as well as international research on the epidemiology, consequences and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
