Dr. Georgios M. Hadjigeorgiou, PhD is a Professor/Chair of the Department of Neurology in the Medical School University of Cyprus. He is a board certified Neurologist in Cyprus. Previously, he served as Professor/Chair of the Department of Neurology and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine University of Thessaly, Greece. He also served as Director of the Neuroscience Unit, Laboratory of Neurogenetics at University of Thessaly, Greece. He graduated from the School of Medicine (MD), National & Kapodistrian University of Athens where I also got my Doctoral degree (both degrees with excellence). His postdoctoral training includes post-doctoral research fellowships in University of Milano, and Columbia University, New York in the field of neurogenetics. His research interests are focused on genetic epidemiology of major neurodegenerative diseases (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s diseases and multiple sclerosis). He is an active member of major international consortia and study groups: Genetic Epidemiology of Parkinson’s disease (GEO-PD), European Restless Legs Syndrome Study Group (EURLSSG) and International Multiple Sclerosis Genetic Consortium (IMSGC). He is also a co-founder and member of the Executive Committee of the: Hellenic Longitudinal Investigation of Aging and Diet (HELIAD) and Hellenic Academy of Neuroimmunology (HELANI).  His research output includes more than 240 PubMed publication with more than 6000 citation (Scopus) and an h-index=40.
