Prof. Dr. Raimon Jané (male) is Research Director at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and since 2007, he is Group Leader of the Biomedical Signal Processing and Interpretation group at Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), and Principal Investigator of the Biomedical Signals and Systems (SISBIO) Group of the Biomedical Research Networking Center in Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine (CIBER-BBN). Currently, prof. Jané is member of CIBER-BBN Steering Committee, as a Training Coordinator. Prof. Jané awarded in 2004, the Accreditation for Full Professor (Agencia para la Calidad del Sistema Universitario de Catalunya, AQU, Spain) and has achieved the positive scientific evaluation of four six-year period (“sexenios”, AQU, Spain) for 1990-2014, with the same criteria that CNEAI. He is member of IEEE-Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society since 1991 and IEEE-Signal Processing Society. And from 2014, he is senior member and belong to the IEEE EMBS Technical Committee on Cardiopulmonary Systems. Since 2012, prof. Jané is the president of the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering (SEIB). His expertise is on multimodal and multiscale biomedical signal processing in cardiac and respiratory diseases and sleep disorders. His group develops novel algorithms to signal interpretation from patients with obstructive sleep apnea, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Asthma and Chronic Heart Failure.
