Prof. Jordi Aguiló (male) is the bioengineering program coordinator of the CIBER-BBN. He is Full Professor at the Engineering School of the UAB since 1987. His research interests are in the fields of Micro-Nano-Bio Systems focusing Biomedical Applications. He has participated as a researcher in numerous European projects. Among them, he led the MicroCard and MicroTrans projects within the EU-IST programm on medical applications for cardiovascular surgery and graft transplants. He also participated in the AAL Chronic and Persona projects on remote monitoring of people suffering a chronic respiratory disease and to support personal autonomy of ageing people respectively. He was one of the five representatives of EU institutions in the EXIF project that was led by CERN trying to push the technology transfer in Europe. Concerning industrial R&D he led the southern office of MEDICS, the European Centre of Competence on Microsystem’s Biomedical Applications leaded by the IBMT. Concerning international cooperation between Europe and Latin-America he leaded the Iberchip and Ibernet projects in collaboration with IMEC, INESC and eight research centers in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil and Uruguay on microelectronic design and also its use in medical applications.
